Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Obaidul Islam is a distinguished academic, researcher, and higher education leader in Bangladesh. With a career spanning several decades, he has made significant contributions to physics research, university teaching, and academic administration. His expertise lies in materials science and photovoltaic solar cell research, with a strong focus on thin film technology and semiconductor materials.
He has held several prominent leadership roles, including Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University and Chairman of the Department of Physics at the University of Dhaka. Known for his strategic vision, integrity, and commitment to excellence, he has played a vital role in shaping higher education policies and institutional development in Bangladesh.
