Dhaka University Research Society (DURS) is going to organize the “Research & Study Abroad Fair 2025” for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students & young scholars across the country on April 21-22 at the University of Dhaka. This event will include an Idea Contest on “Three Zeros” (Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty, and Zero Unemployment), along with a Poster and Proposal Contest. Additionally, the Freshers’ Reception for newly joined members of DURS will also be held during this time.

Event Title: DURS Research & Study Abroad Fair 2025

Core objective of the Event: The primary objective of this event is to inspire the nation’s educated youth to engage in research while creating pathways for higher education and research careers abroad. By gaining global knowledge and expertise, the next generation can contribute meaningfully to Bangladesh’s development and progress on the national and international stage.

This event will feature three competitions-

  1. Idea contest focusing on “Three Zero.”
  2. Interdisciplinary Research Proposal Contest.
  3. Research Poster Contest

 Idea Contest Details:

Theme: 3zero concept by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus

  • Zero net carbon emission,
  • Zero wealth concentration for ending poverty, and
  • Zero unemployment by unleashing entrepreneurship in all.

3 Zero achieving Plan module:

  • Entrepreneurship: Unleash entrepreneurship in everyone
  • Technology: Use technology to create jobs and protect the environment
  • Good governance: Ensure good governance at the public and private levels
  • Social business: Create social businesses to promote economic emancipation

All ideas should be based on those achieving plan

What we are looking for in the Idea Contest:

Rounds:

  • First Round: Participants will submit written solutions/ideas (within 500 words) in the google form created for the challenge. (As doc file),
  • Second Round: Judges will scrutinize all the submitted ideas from the first round, Select the top 50% of those ideas. The selected participants will be told to make a video (2 minutes long) of their ideas and post it online (social media & Youtube) with tagging DURS. Then they have to submit the video link in google form (the video will be based on their idea),
  • Third Round: Participants will present a PPT in front of the Judge panel and judges will ask questions, take interviews and finalize 3-5 top teams for the final prize. Top 3-5 teams will get prize money and others will get certificate & program kits.

  • Final Submission (PPT Sub) for in person Presentation: 16th April 2025

Interdisciplinary Proposal Contest Details:

Interdisciplinary research proposals will be invited from research-enthusiastic students across various universities in the country.

Key Highlights:

  • Proposal theme: Interdisciplinary (From any areas)
  • Initially, participants must submit an abstract of 250-300 words.
  • After the proposal submission deadline, selected proposals will qualify for the final contest.
  • Participants with selected proposals will have the opportunity to compete by completing the registration process and paying the required fee.
  • Following the final presentations, first, second, and third-place winners will be awarded, while all other presenters will receive certificates.

Research Poster Contest Details:

As part of this event, an interdisciplinary poster contest will be held, where students from various colleges and universities across the country can present posters based on their research areas.

Key Highlights:

  • Poster theme: Interdisciplinary (From any research areas);
  • Participants must submit an abstract of 250-300 words within deadline;
  • Selected abstracts will be invited for the final presentation;
  • Participants must complete the registration process by paying the required fee to take part in the event;
  • Participants will prepare their final posters, specifying details such as poster size and word count, and submit them via email to organizers.
